Different "front ends" possible for the same site?
Subject description: How to structure a TYPO3 implementation for multiple audiences |

I'm new to the forum, and TYPO3 as well, so your forbearance is appreciated.
I work in the IT department of a mid-size university. We've been looking at reorganizing our Web content to make our menus more intuitive.
The problem is that we serve several audiences, each with a different set of priorities, perceptions and information needs. These include students, faculty and staff (along with variations on each group). Some of the information will be consistent across different groups (e.g., accessing e-mail) and some of it will be group-specific (e.g., requesting an e-mail account for a new employee will only be used by staff).
My TYPO3 administrator/developer and I have discussed using the languages feature to provide different start pages for each of these audiences... but I'm wondering if anyone else can suggest approaches to presenting different navigational structures to different audiences.
Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions and ideas.
