Hi everybody!

I'm new to installing Typo3, and I'm happy to be here!

I've been examining all my options to get working asap on the website and not the server. Cool I see a requirement is IIS. But does that apply to "any" instance of Typo3, or does that only apply to "live" sites served on web?

Simply put, is it possible to install Typo3 on XP Home? I'd hate to go through the headache of installing Apache, MySQL & phpMyAdmin only to find out IIS is missing but needed.

Thanks!

Thanks!

But my questions was geared specifically for XP Home users. I failed to mention this, but I already know about WAMP5 and XAMPP, but they do not have specific info regarding IIS or XP Home. I spent days searching and searching for at least ONE site to clarify this. But none did.

So I decided to go for it, try it anyway and see what happens. When I went to get all my downloads--lo-and-behold--what do I find at http://typo3.org/download/installers/ ? I find...

TYPO3 WAMP Rolling Eyes

It installed perfectly fine on my XP Home. But there weren't any directions. If anybody else installs (who is new to this):

--Allow it to install in the suggested directory.
--After install, remember to open a browser before opening either the front/back ends.
--The logon to get into the back end is: admin/password.

But my back end doesn't look like a lot of the tutorials out there. Not all the modules are installed. I don't have "FILES" like I see in screenshots.

Am I supposed to add that on my own? Boy, I can't wait until the new Typo3 book is released later this month.

Grrr. lol

There is no IIS in Windows XP Home. You'll find the InternetInformationServer only in the Professional Edition.

Have you installed WAMPP on the System Partition? Then uninstall and reinstall it on an other partition.

But why don't you use XAMPP from apachefriends.org and the packages from typo3.org/download/packages?
